URBANA – A Champaign County judge Friday approved a $1.25 million settlement in the case of a University of Illinois student hit and killed by a Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District bus three years ago.

The parents and sister of Sarah Channick will get equal shares of $942,772. The rest – $307,228 – goes to their Chicago attorney for his fees and expenses in bringing the wrongful death suit against the MTD about two months after her death.
