Hume motorcyclist in hospital after Edgar County crash

BROCTON – A Hume man remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday with injuries he received earlier Tuesday in a motorcycle wreck in western Edgar County.

A report from the Edgar County sheriff's office said Cory G. Barrett, 32, was driving north on 200th St., south of 1740 Road in Brocton, when he left the road on the right.

His motorcycle traveled about 200 feet in wet grass, then went back on the blacktop, where it skidded another approximately 100 feet before coming to a stop. The report said Barrett was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Barrett was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana by helicopter. The accident occurred about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.
