New fire department positions boosting salaries, morale
URBANA – Urbana firefighters say they're feeling good about their future, now that a new administrative structure with more opportunities for job advancement is in place – along with some healthy midyear wage increases for those firefighters advancing in rank.
The new structure went into effect Jan. 1; it was negotiated in 2007 as part of a three-year contract between the city and the firefighters' union.
