Sergeant from Mattoon dies in Afghanistan
MATTOON – A Mattoon soldier died Tuesday in Afghanistan.
Like several other Illinois Army National Guard soldiers recently, he was the victim of a roadside bomb.
Sgt. Scott Stream, 39, was part of the 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry based in Effingham, and was assigned to the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, training Afghan police since last August.
