Vermilion County plans more roadwork with stimulus funds
HOOPESTON – Although Frances Dunn worries about the stimulus bill's effect on the federal government's debt, she is pleased that Hoopeston's share will be used for a long-planned project to resurface North Market Street in front of the house where she's lived since 1967.
"It needs to be done. The road is getting rough. It just needs to be redone," said Dunn, who lives in a part of town that floods easily. She added that she'd rather the money somehow be used to alleviate the flooding that swamps her front yard and backyard and fills her basement during heavy rains.
