Dems challenged -- but not much by GOP -- in Urbana election
URBANA – Urbana's city council has been dominated by Democrats for more than two decades, with six of the seven aldermanic seats now held by Democrats.
In Tuesday's election, Republicans have no candidate in six of seven wards, with only incumbent Alderwoman Heather Stevenson, R-Ward 6, seeking re-election. But a mix of Green Party candidates, independents and a Democrat challenging Stevenson in her GOP stronghold means voters have contests in four wards.
