Catholic Worker volunteers arrested in protest
CHAMPAIGN – Four volunteers at the Catholic Worker House in Champaign were among a group of protesters arrested earlier this week in northwestern Illinois for trespassing during a protest at a Blackwater training site.
Tyler Chen, 24, a volunteer of the St. Jude Catholic Worker House, 317 S. Randolph St., said he and others attended the Catholic Worker Midwest Resistance Retreat in Stockton last weekend from Friday to Sunday. Participants focused their discussions on "companies that are becoming private armies, mercenaries," he said.
