CHAMPAIGN – The University of Illinois College of Law is adopting new rules on admissions inquiries to "ensure the integrity" of the school's admissions process, according to Dean Bruce Smith.

The college will give no "special" consideration to candidates with political clout, Smith told members of the Illinois Admissions Review Commission during testimony Wednesday in Chicago. The college will accept admissions inquiries only from candidates themselves, and will take input on them only through formal letters of recommendation, Smith said.
