Monticello residents push for land for athletic fields
MONTICELLO – Discussions on the city's possible outdoor recreation land acquisition continued this week as the Monticello City Council heard opinions on the potential land deal from parents and residents.
Although no action was taken, the floor was opened up to several parents of youth athletes in the city, all asking the council to strongly consider purchasing the vacant land located near Apple Tree Subdivision on the city's west side. The tentative plan calls for football/soccer fields as well as several baseball/softball fields.
