Sentencing delayed in case of landlord

Sentencing has been postponed until June 2 for a Champaign County landlord convicted of renting a condemned apartment.

Judge Richard Klaus granted a motion by Bernard Ramos requesting a continuance.

Ramos, 36, was found guilty of criminal housing management March 3 for renting an apartment with health and safety hazards at 709 W. Church St., C.

Ramos requested more time because he has dismissed his public defender and hired attorney Donald Parkinson to represent him.

Ramos faces up to 364 days in jail, two years of probation and a $2,500 fine.
