Award to recognize tech companies with excellent work places

CHAMPAIGN – A new award has been established to recognize local technology companies with an excellent workplace, with financial rewards to be given to both the winning company and its employees.

Serra Ventures has established the TGIM Workplace Excellence Award to be presented at the Champaign County Economic Development Corp.'s "Innovation Celebration" event next February.

The grand prize-winning company will receive $500, and each employee will receive a $75 gift card. A $500 donation will also be made to the charity of the company's choice.

The winner will be determined through employee responses to an online survey about their workplace.

The confidential survey will be available online from Nov. 1 to Nov. 19 and will be administered to companies that choose to participate.

Each participating company will get a confidential report of their survey results as well as composite survey results.

The winner will be chosen based on its "overall culture of excellence" according to employee responses. The competition is open to technology companies employing between five and 60 employees.

TGIM stands for "Thank God It's Monday" – the title of a book written by Serra Ventures Chief Executive Officer Tim Hoerr.

For more information about the survey or sign up a company for participation, contact Alyssa Hoerr at Serra Ventures, 819-5203 or alyssa@serraventures.com.
