CHAMPAIGN — Bond has been set at $50,000 for a Champaign man arrested over the weekend in connection with a stabbing in Champaign.
Andre K. Washington, 30, who listed an address in the 1400 block of West Kirby Avenue, Champaign, pleaded innocent on Monday to felony aggravated battery.
According to a Champaign police report, officers were called to responded to the 800 block of Maplepark Drive in Champaign at 6:20 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a stabbing victim there.
Police said a 35-year-old Rantoul man was stabbed in an apartment on the 1400 block of West Kirby Avenue, Champaign, following an argument with Washington.
The Rantoul man was taken to an area hospital, where he received treatment, according to police.
Police arrested Washington in the 2100 block of West White Street, Champaign, at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday after police found a vehicle he was in.
Assistant State’s Attorney Larry Solava said Washington had previous convictions for domestic battery, resisting a police officer, possession of marijuana and driving under the influence.
Judge John Kennedy scheduled a preliminary hearing for Washington for Dec. 14.
