PENFIELD — Two Gifford teens were taken to an area hospital following a single vehicle crash Thursday morning near Penfield.
According to a state police report, Molly M. Kelly, 17, of Gifford was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer east on U.S. 136 approaching County Road 2700 E north of Penfield when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road at 7:54 a.m. Thursday.
Kelly over-corrected, and the vehicle crossed into the westbound lane. She then veered back into her lane, and the vehicle overturned several times, coming to rest in a ditch. Connor J. Burke, 17, of Gifford, a passenger, was thrown from the vehicle.
Kelly and Burke were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where Kelly was treated and released.
Carle had no information on Burke's condition on Thursday afternoon.
Kelly was ticketed for improper lane usage. Burke was ticketed for failure to wear a seat belt.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Gifford Police Department, Gifford Fire Department and Pro Ambulance.
