RANTOUL — A Rantoul man has been charged with a crime for allegedly striking a child in his care with an electrical cord.
Montrice Morrow, 36, who listed an address in the 500 block of Broadmeadow Road, was charged Thursday with aggravated domestic battery.
Assistant State's Attorney Steve Ziegler said officials at the child's school noticed cuts, marks and bruises on the child's head, arms, and legs Wednesday and notified authorities.
Ziegler said Rantoul police learned that Morrow was allegedly disciplining the boy by striking him with an electrical cord. The discipline happened about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, he said.
If convicted, Morrow faces penalties ranging from probation to three to seven years in prison.
