Urbana police investigate armed robbery

URBANA — Police are investigating an armed robbery Friday night in Urbana.

According to an Urbana police report, a 44-year-old Champaign man was on the 1700 block of East Florida Avenue, U, at 10:40 p.m. Friday when he was approached by a man and a woman, with at least one of them displaying a gun.

The robbers took two cellphones and cash, damaged a motor vehicle and left the scene, police said.

The victim was not injured, according to police.

One robber was described as a black woman. She is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has black hair, brown eyes and medium skin and was wearing a Pelle jacket and blue jeans.

The other robber was described as a black man. He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a stocky build and was last seen wearing a large brown coat with a grey hoodie.

Good thing the Governor would veto concealed carry, or two good felons would be dead, and we sure don't want the innocent person to be able to protect themselfs.

Why do you assume there would be two dead felons? Isn't it just as likely there would be one dead robbery victim instead of just one robbery victim?

Probably because some people have a Rambo complex and think that they could fearlessly pull out their weapon and calmly put down the criminal assaulting them. As you said, I think it is as likely or more likely that the victim would be the one who ended up dead. But concealed carry should still be allowed...for personal freedom reasons, not because of the silly and illogical reasons that concealed carry supporters usually suggest.
