Rural schools make progress...large city schools with the diversity stick do not. Sad...

Another negative report on learning at Catlin unit 5. Maybe that is why they are pushing "learning" community service and SEL (political correctness) at the high school. Since they will not be able read or write at least they can do volunteer work. Kids are being taught to accept others beliefs, when it is clearly a matter of personal choice. Maybe its time for the admin at the district to stick with learning the basics and less class and homework time learning how to VOLUNTEER and be POLITICALLY CORRECT.

Public schools continue their downward spiral. Yes, all they seemed concerned with now is "forced community service". Bement requires x number of hours per year of community service or the kids don't graduate. I thought slavery was abolished. Forcing kids to volunteer? That's not exactly volunteering is it? My child has a GPA of 4.0, maybe a bit higher due to weighted classes, but I don't contribute her success to anything other than her individual desire to do and be the best that she can be. I pity parents that are just beginning this journey.

Look at the low benchmark of the NO CHILD legislation....is it too much to ask for a student to read at his own grade level. If you want some real humor...take a look at what high school students had to know to graduate in the 1950's. Then you can appreciate how dumb downed our system is today. Think your child is getting a great education, take a look at openthebooks.com, and look at the salaries of your teachers....on the left hand side is a trend graph of the last five years of salary increases....well over the rate of inflation. VOUCHERS NOW...let the parent select the best learning for the child..not the state.
