Humane Society wins website makeover contest

The votes have been counted, and the Champaign County Humane Society is the winner of a contest that will give the group a makeover of its website.

The humane society was the top vote-getter in this year's "Big Website Makeover" contest, sponsored by LRS Web Solutions of Springfield.

The group beat out nine other non-profit organizations to win the makeover, which is valued at $10,000.

Humane Society Executive Director Mary Tiefenbrunn said getting a new website will go a long way in finding homes for animals at the shelter.

Tiefenbrunn said she will meet with representatives from LRS Web Solutions soon to begin planning the website overhaul.

She hopes to get the new site launched by February.

The humane society is the second consecutive group from Champaign County to win the contest.

Last year's winner was Crisis Nursery in Urbana.
