Rantoul man charged with predatory criminal sexual assault

RANTOUL — A Rantoul man has been charged with sexually molesting a young girl.

Rantoul police Sgt. Marcus Beach said the girl, now a teen, told her mother late last month that Miguel Solorzano, 31, who listed an address in the 1300 block of McCullough Street, had been molesting her for several years.

The mother told police on Oct. 27 and they began an investigation that culminated in Solorzano's arrest Monday.

Beach said Solorzano turned himself in at the police station about 4 p.m. Monday, was interviewed and confessed.

Solorzano was charged Tuesday with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault alleging contact with the girl that began in December 2007.

If convicted, he faces six to 30 years in prison on each count.
