Community Blood Services of Illinois is calling on donors for more than blood this week.
The organization is asking donors to fill a holiday-week shortage for blood products and to bring in donations of nonperishable food items to help feed the hungry.
"We're just thinking it's a chance for them to do two good deeds at once," said Carrie Web, director of donor relations.
The blood bank has teamed up with the Eastern Illinois Foodbank to host a food and blood drive this week.
