Champaign police seek man who was last seen Saturday

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are asking the public to help authorities find a man who was last seen Saturday afternoon.

Renard A. Jackson, 49, was last seen leaving his home in the 1500 block of Holly Hill Drive, Champaign, at 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn. Jackson was riding a bicycle to the 1100 block of North Prospect Avenue to run an errand.

Jackson's family contacted Champaign police on Tuesday to file a missing person's report after somebody brought the contents of his wallet to the family. Dunn said the items from the wallet were lying on a curb near Summerlin Lane and Hedge Road.

Jackson is a 165-pound black male with a "skinny" build. He is 6-foot-1 and was last seen wearing a black-hooded jacket with fur trim around the hood. The bicycle he was riding was described as "bluish purple."

People with information on Jackson's whereabouts are asked to call Champaign police at 351-4545 or Champaign County Crimestoppers at 373-8477. Tips can also be sent at http://www.373tips.com or via cellphone text message by sending Tip397 plus the info to 274637.
