Chancellor plans town-hall meeting

URBANA — New University of Illinois Chancellor Phyllis Wise will host a town-hall meeting on campus Tuesday.

The town hall will begin at 4 p.m. in the Colwell Playhouse at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 500 S. Goodwin Ave., U.

Wise was appointed to the post this summer. She began her duties as chancellor and vice president at the Urbana-Champaign campus on Oct. 1. Wise was interim president at the University of Washington before moving here.

Since she arrived on campus, Wise has been meeting with members of the faculty, deans, department heads and others as part of what she's called a "listening and learning tour."

In a message to campus, Wise said the purpose of the town-hall meeting was two-fold: "to provide a preliminary summary of what I have gathered in my ongoing listening and learning tour and, secondly, to hear from you as to what our untapped potential is and how we can best position this campus to achieve even greater successes in the years to come."
