Champaign police say man invited teen into car

CHAMPAIGN -- A 13-year-old boy refused a ride from a man he did not know on Sunday afternoon near the intersection of Crescent and Southwood drives in southwest Champaign.

Police are calling the report an attempted abduction and are looking for a white man with dark brown, shaggy hair and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache, according to a Champaign police press release. A witness described the vehicle as a light-blue, midsized, 4-door sedan.

According to the release, a witness saw the man speaking to the boy before the child ran quickly from the area. The child informed the witness that the driver of the vehicle offered him a ride home.
