Champaign bar checks yield 35 tickets
CHAMPAIGN — The most recent bar checks by Illinois State Police and Champaign police on Dec. 7-8 resulted in the issuing of 35 tickets.
As a result of the Operation Campus/ Tap detail, designed to deter underage drinking, 34 tickets were issued for possession or purchase of alcohol by a minor and one ticket was issued for the sale or delivery of alcohol to a minor.
The Illinois secretary of state may suspend or revoke the driver's license of persons found in possession of illegal IDs. In addition, minors convicted of purchase, possession or consumption of alcohol will face a one-year suspension of their driver's license.
During the detail, bar checks were conducted at eight businesses.

— Red Lion, 211 E. Green St., eight tickets.
— White Horse Inn, 112 1/2 E. Green St., six tickets.
— Joe's Brewery, 706 S. Fifth St., six tickets.
— Murphy's Pub, 604 E. Green St., four tickets.
— It's Brother's, 613 E. Green St., two tickets.
— Bradley's, 1906 W. Bradley Ave., one ticket.
— Green Street Cafe, 35 E. Green St., zero tickets.
Operation Campus/Tap program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
