The Urbana School Board voted unanimously Tuesday to accept legal descriptions of its new election subdistricts, and also chose the length of terms associated with those areas.
Those term lengths will take effect in 2013, when all current board members' terms expire.
Board members elected that year from the north, east, west and southeast subdistricts will serve four-year terms. Board members from the northwest, west central and southwest subdistricts will serve two-year terms.
Board members chose slips of paper randomly from a bowl during Tuesday's study session to determine the length of each term.
The board remapped its subdistricts at the end of 2011. It does so every 10 years, after each U.S. Census.
