Cashier charged with stealing from Walmart

URBANA — A Villa Grove woman has been charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing from her employer.

A Champaign police report said Heidi Click, 28, was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Walmart, 2610 N. Prospect Ave., where she was employed as a cashier.

The report said Click's cash drawer had not balanced on several occasions last month. A search of electronic surveillance recordings showed that during December, she allegedly concealed a gift card in her sleeve which she added money to electronically. She then used the gift card and her employee discount to purchase merchandise.

The report said there were seven alleged fraudulent transactions between Dec. 5 and 31 totaling $1,028.

Click is charged with a Class 3 felony carrying penalties ranging from probation to two to five years in prison upon conviction. She remains free on her own recognizance and is due back in court March 20.
