Urbana woman reported injured in accident in Vermilion County

DANVILLE — An Urbana woman was taken to a Danville hospital after being injured in a two vehicle accident on Interstate 74 on Thursday afternoon.

According to a state police report, Stephanie L. Turner, 37, of Urbana, was driving a 2001 Ford pickup truck west on I-74 west of Tilton at 3:28 p.m. Thursday.

Driving slightly behind Turner in the passing lane was semitrailer driven by Jose A. Juarez-Vega, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas.

Police said Turner lost control of her vehicle, entered the passing lane of traffic and crashed into the semitrailer. Juarez-Vega's vehicle then lost control and jackknifed, causing a lane closure.

Turner was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, where she was treated for what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. Provena had no information on her condition on Thursday night.

Juarez-Vega was not injured, according to police.

Police ticketed Turner for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle.
