CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are investigating a report of shots fired Monday afternoon.
Champaign police Sgt. Tod Myers said police were called to the corner of Hickory Street and Columbia Avenue at 2:45 p.m. after people reported two shots were fired at that location.
Myers said that two men were seen running away from the scene headed north.
After a witness told police that a gunman had hidden a gun in the snow, Myers said police recovered a gun buried in the snow in the 600 block of North Hickory Street.
While nobody was injured, Myers said a van driven through the intersection received a gunshot.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Persons with information about the incident are asked to call Champaign police at 351-4545.
