Georgetown-Ridge Farm to host review of disabilities decisions
GEORGETOWN — The Georgetown-Ridge Farm school district has been selected by the Illinois State Board of Education for a focused monitoring review of the educational placement decisions for students with disabilities.
Parents and guardians of students with disabilities in the district are invited to learn about the process and provide input at a public forum, sponsored by the state board. It will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the media center at the high school, 500 Mulberry St.
The process investigates compliance with federal and state special education laws and regulations and seeks to ensure that the district is following appropriate procedures in making educational placement decisions for students with disabilities.
The purpose of the forum is to gather information about how the district works with parents and guardians when deciding how and where students with disabilities will be educated.
