Kewanee man faces felony drug charge

URBANA — Urbana police arrested a Kewanee man after he allegedly sold two capsules containing suspected Ecstasy to an undercover police officer on Saturday night.

Richard L. Kennedy, 23, pleaded innocent on Monday to felony unlawful possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.

According to a police report, Urbana police were conducting an undercover drug operation at the Canopy Club, 708 S. Goodwin Ave, when Kennedy allegedly sold the two capsules to an undercover officer at 10:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the amount of suspected Ecstasy in the capsules won't be known until they have been examined by the state police laboratory in Springfield.

Kennedy's next court appearance was set for March 6.
