DACC hosts info event for financial aid

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College is hosting a college financial aid event for families of students who will be attending college in 2012-2013.

The purpose of the "College Goal Sunday" event is to guide families through completion of the 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Participants will get hands-on help from professional financial aid specialists in completing the form, which is the first step in determining eligibility for federal and state student aid. The 2012-13 school year begins this fall at most colleges, and DACC's fall 2012 semester begins August 20.

The event will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 19 in Vermilion Hall, Room 306, on the DACC campus, 2000 E. Main St., Danville.

Participants will need to bring students' 2011 federal tax return; parents' 2011 federal tax return; 2011 W-2 forms, 1099 forms or any other taxable income forms for students and parents; and the total amount of child support paid or received for 2011.

There will be refreshments and door prizes. Registration is not required but participants should plan to arrive at 1 p.m. Child care will be offered free of charge at the DACC Child Development Center 1-3 p.m.
