Training set for Vermilion County CASA

DANVILLE — Court Appointed Special Advocates of Vermilion County is offering a 30-hour child advocacy course for CASA volunteers.

All CASA volunteers are required to attend pre-service training. The nationally recognized curriculum includes information on the juvenile court process, child abuse and neglect laws, childhood development, risk factors of child abuse, and more. All training and materials are free. The mission of CASA of Vermilion County is to be an advocate for abused and neglected children within the juvenile court system by training and managing volunteers to represent the children's best interests.

The 30-hour training class will be 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for three weeks, beginning March 5 and continuing through March 21. The class will meet in the board room at the Danville Township Building, 101 W. North St., Danville.
