VASE facility raising money for playground equipment

DANVILLE — Middlefork School is hosting a trivia night to raise funds for new playground equipment for special-needs students at its facility.

Middlefork is a public school that's part of the Vermilion Association for Special Education, 15009 Catlin-Tilton Road, Danville, and serves students with significant special education needs throughout Vermilion County. The facility's current playground does not meet the range of physical or sensory needs of the kindergarten through 12th-grade students who attend Middlefork, and much of the equipment has had to be removed for safety concerns.

The school's first public fundraising event will be a Trivia Night on March 2 at American Legion Post 210, 201 Prospect Place, Danville. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and trivia begins at 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. The Legion will also be hosting its fish fry that night, so dinner also will be available.

The trivia entry fee is $10 per person with each team consisting of six to 10 people. If you don't have enough for a team, event organizers can find a team that needs extra players. Each player or team can register at the door that night or access registration forms at https://sites.google.com/a/vase.k12.il.us/home/home/playground-funding.

Individuals or organizations interested in donating items for the silent auction or donating to the new playground fund, call Middle Fork School at 443-8273. All donations are tax deductible.
