Investigators working to find cause of Champaign mobile home fire

CHAMPAIGN — Arson investigators were on the scene of a fire this weekend in Shadow Wood Park after a Saturday night blaze destroyed a mobile home.

The residents were away from the home during the fire and no one was injured, but the damage was considered a total loss, according to the Champaign Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived on scene four minutes after they were called at 10:30 p.m., and the fire was out by 11:09 p.m. The mobile home at 21 Linden Dr. was engulfed in flames when they arrived, according to the department, and firefighters were able, for the most part, to contain the fire to one home.

The heat from the fire broke the window and melted the blinds in a neighboring home.

The state fire marshal’s arson team and Champaign police investigators were working with the Champaign Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire, according to a news release.
