Man charged with residential burglary

URBANA — A Chicago man has been arrested in connection with a December break-in at a Champaign apartment.

Edward Hall, 19, who listed an address in Chicago, pleaded innocent on Tuesday to residential burglary.

According to a police report, Hall allegedly entered an apartment in the 2000 block of Moreland Boulevard on Dec. 12 and took a laptop computer, a game system and games.

A woman in the apartment recognized Hall as having lived in the apartment previously and identified him for police as the man she saw inside.

Judge Richard Klaus told Hall to be back in court March 20.

Hall is also charged with an unrelated burglary that allegedly happened on Dec. 9.

If convicted of the more serious residential burglary charge, he faces a mandatory prison term of between four and 15 years.
