Minor injuries reported in three-vehicle accident in Champaign
CHAMPAIGN — Two people received minor injuries in a three-vehicle accident at a busy west Champaign intersection Friday morning.
Just after 8 a.m., a van driven north on Prospect Avenue apparently turned left on to Bloomington Road and was hit by a southbound car.
Police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said the van driver was Donald Goodrich, 27, of the 2400 block of East Illinois Street, Urbana. His van was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by Elizabeth Gemboa, 27, of the 1000 block of Kerr Avenue, Urbana.
Both of their vehicles then veered into a pickup truck driven by Michael Arnold, 50, of Mansfield, who was stopped in the eastbound lane of Bloomington Road for a traffic signal.
Dunn said Goodrich was ticketed for failure to yield turning left. He was treated and released for an injury he received while his passenger, Kailey Buffo, 7, of Champaign, was not harmed.
Gemboa was also taken to a hospital for medical evaluation but her passenger, Michael Gales, 26, of Chicago, was not hurt.
Dunn said Arnold and his passenger, Nelson Arnold, 73, of Champaign, were also not hurt.
Both Goodrich's van and the rental vehicle Gemboa was driving had to be towed from the crash site.
