Nobody reported hurt in fire in Mahomet Township

MAHOMET — Nobody was reported hurt in a fire late Tuesday afternoon in Mahomet Township.

Cornbelt Fire Department firefighters were called to a fire at a mobile home at 350 Logan St., Mahomet, at 5:56 p.m. Tuesday.

When firefighters arrived at 6:03 p.m., they found heavy fire coming out of the south side of the mobile home.

Cornbelt Fire Department firefighters received assistance from Bondville, Seymour and Sangamon Valley firefighters.

According to a fire department report, one person inside the mobile home escaped unharmed. No firefighters were injured.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 6:40 p.m. and left the scene by 8:30 p.m.

According to the report, the fire appeared to have started in the rear of the mobile home, which was heavily damaged.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation on Tuesday night.
