Champaign school board accepting applications for late board member's seat

CHAMPAIGN - The Champaign school board is accepting applications for the seat of late board member Greg Novak.

They're due April 6 and the board will notify those selected for interviews by April 10. Interviews will be scheduled for the evening of April 16.

Applications are available on the school district's website or at the Mellon Administrative Center, 703 S. New St., C.

According to school board policy, the school board must fill the seat within 45 days. The seat's term is up in April 2013.

"To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must be at least 18 years old, have resided within the geographic boundaries of the (school) district for at least a year and be a registered voter," according to a press release from the school district.
