Employee charged with burglary from campus restaurant

URBANA — A Champaign man has been charged with burglary after police say he was caught on videotape allegedly stealing money from his employer.

Urbana police Lt. Bryant Seraphin said Damon Clark, 35, who listed an address in the 900 block of South Crescent Drive, was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of cash from J. Gumbo's Cajun & Creole Cooking Co., 700 S. Gregory St., U, Tuesday.

Business officials noticed money missing from the cash drawer late Tuesday and reported it to police. Seraphin said a video surveillance tape showed Clark, an employee, had let himself in about 1 a.m. Tuesday, opened the cash drawer, and removed about $50.
