Santorum, backers to campaign in Illinois

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is scheduled to be in Effingham Saturday afternoon, followed by two stops in southern Illinois.

Santorum, a former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, is scheduled to be at John Boos & Company, a manufacturing plant in Effingham, at 2 p.m. Saturday. Boos, which according to its company web site manufactures premium quality butcher block and stainless steel kitchen equipment, is at 3601 S. Banker St., across from the Effingham County Memorial Airport. Banker Street also is U.S. 45.

The site is about 70 miles south of Champaign.

Following his 60- to 90-minute stop in Effingham, Santorum is scheduled for rallies at 5 p.m. at the Mt. Vernon Airport and at 7:30 p.m. at Herrin High School.

Also Saturday, a group called the Susan B. Anthony List said it would travel to Champaign in support of Santorum. The bus tour, which includes a number of anti-abortion speakers, is scheduled to be at West Side Park in Champaign at 4 p.m.

Among those in the group is Christie Schilling, the wife of U.S. Rep. Bobby Schilling, R-Moline, and Marilyn Musgrave, a vice president at the Susan B. Anthony List and a former member of Congress from Colorado.

"Among the field of candidates in the GOP primary," said Musgrave, "Rick Santorum stands out as a proven leader on life, family and religious liberty. His consistent record on these issues matters deeply to voters, especially women, who are looking for a clear contrast to President Obama."

What a great peice! When I finished reading it I did a double take. Ms.Musgrave really believes that the anti woman issues Mr. Santorum is so strident about are especially important to women who are looking for a contrast to Mr. Obama. Really! Which women would those be Ms. Musgrave? Best I can tell they would be you, Santorums wife, and the 1 or 2% of voting age women in this country who haven't used birth control.

But her statement does prove that the first amendment to our constitution is alive and well. Where else could someone say something so preposterous with a straight face.
