Primary elections on Tuesday

Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday for primary elections throughout Illinois.

Illinois Senate district races

51st District: Republican primary contest between Chapin Rose and Tom Pliura; no Democratic contest. Tom Kacich's story is here.

Illinois House District races

87th District: no primary contest in either party

88th House: Republican primary contest between Keith Sommer and Steve Perry; no Democratic primary

96th House: Democratic primary contest between Winston Taylor, Sam Cahnman and Sue Scherer; Republican primary between Jared Perry and Dennis Schakelford

101st House: no primary contest in either party

Vermilion County board

District 3: Charles Nesbitt and Mary Morrison, are challenging the Republicans who currently hold the three District 3 seats, Steve Fourez, Rick Knight and David Stone. There is no Democratic contest. Tracy Moss' story is here.

Vermilion County recorder Thomas O'Shaughnessy, Deborah Runyan and Eric Rosson have been campaigning for the opportunity to face the lone Democratic candidate, Nikki Bogart, in the November general election. Tracy Moss' story is here.

In the Champaign County circuit clerk race, there is a contested Democratic primary between Lori Hansen, Barb Wysocki, and Evelyn Underwood.  Stephanie Holderfield is the only Republican candidate currently running for the office.
