Street closure planned on White Street in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — A portion of West White Street in Champaign will be closed to traffic beginning Thursday for sanitary sewer work.

West White Street will be closed between Willis and McKinley avenues starting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday while a sanitary sewer pipe that has caused a sink hole in the middle of the street is repaired.

During the closure, residents of the block will continue to have access to their driveways, but on-street parking will be prohibited.

Restoration of the brick pavement over the sanitary sewer repair is expected to be completed and the street re-opened by 5 p.m. March 30, weather permitting.
