Rantoul man injured in rollover accident

URBANA — A rural Rantoul man was injured when his sport utility vehicle rolled over north of Urbana Saturday afternoon.

Champaign County sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Vercler said Terry Canavan, 70, who listed an address on County Road 2700 N,
was driving east on Leverett Road approaching U.S. 45 about 3 p.m. when his foot slipped off the brake and accidentally hit the gas. He went into the ditch, crossed the southbound lane of U.S. 45, then hit the median and rolled over into the northbound lanes of 45.

Canavan was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital for treatment of what Vercler described as minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
