Freeze watch issued for Thursday night and Friday morning

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch from late Thursday night to Friday morning for the following counties:  McLean, DeWitt, Piatt, Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas, Edgar, Ford, and Iroquois.

The weather service says Friday morning low temperatures will be around 32 degrees, and temperatures could dip into the high 20s in the northern portion of East Central Illinois.

Newly budding plants and other sensitive vegetation may be damaged by the freezing temperatures and should be taken indoors or covered if possible.
