Teen ticketed in collision near Rantoul

RANTOUL — Five people were taken to Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana after a two-car collision north of Rantoul Saturday.

Zoe Kaler, 18, of Rantoul was driving west on Champaign County Road 3200 North, north of Rantoul, approaching U.S. 45 at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a state police report.

Kaler failed to yield at a stop sign, hitting a 1999 GMC pickup truck driven south on U.S. 45 by 58-year-old Vera Drake, of Rantoul.

Kaler's vehicle had two passengers, 16-year old Emily Kaler of Rantoul and 15-year-old Lacey Bertram of Rantoul.

Drake's had one passenger, Randall Smith, 54, of Rantoul

All involved were wearing seatbelts and were taken to Provena, where they were all treated and released.

Zoe Kaler was ticketed for failing to yield at a stop or yield intersection, according to a state police report.
