Second man arrested in apartment burglary

CHAMPAIGN — A second man believed to have burgled a west Champaign apartment last week has been arrested by Champaign police.

Department spokeswoman Rene Dunn said Dontrell Lee Netter, 19, who listed an address in the 2300 block of Southmoor Drive, Champaign, was arrested Monday not far from his home in connection with an April 9 burglary to an apartment at Countrybrook Apartments in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue.

About 9:30 a.m. that day, a witness heard a loud noise coming from an apartment, then saw two men running out holding a television and other items. When the intruders saw the man watching them, they dropped the items and ran.

Duston Smith-Fondville, 19, of the 3100 block of West Daniel Street, Champaign, was arrested that day and charged with residential burglary. He is free on bond and due back in court June 12.

Dunn said police had been looking for Netter.

The victim reported leaving her apartment before 8 a.m. on April 9 and returning to find her door forced open, the apartment ransacked and two televisions and other electronic items missing. The items were later recovered by police.

It must be nice to have a PD that gives a hoot.  We had a TV and a PS3 stolen out of our apartment up here in Hoopeston in late January, but the thief was an idiot.  He took the PS3 with a NINTENDO WII power cord!! Lol! But anyway, the thief also left the ORIGINAL remote that came with the TV.  Now, while I had the Serial# for the PS3, I did not have the Serial# for the 32" flatscreen at that time.  So, I bagged the TV remote and turned it in to Hoopeston PD.  The Chief of Hoopeston PD, who took our initial police report, actually asked "What do we need this for?!" I was dumbstruck.  How do you be professional to the Chief when aked this obvious question?? In my best tone, I said "uhh, for positive identification of the TV?? I mean, if you find the PS3, it wouldn't hurt to try this OEM remote to see if the TV turns on or not, right??" So he took it into evidence.

So, about 2 weeks later, we moved out of that place.  In the process of moving, we found the original TV receipt WITH the Serial# on it!!  So I think to myself "YAY!!!"  Of course, I go back to Hoopeston PD.  I explain everything to the dispatcher; about a 5 minute conversation.  At the end of the conversation, I explained to her that I now have the Serial# for the 32" TV so she can make a copy of the receipt.  I SH*T y'all not, I was asked again... "WHAT DO WE NEED THIS FOR??" Yes, she asked that about the Best Buy receipt that has VALUE AND the Serial# on it.  I have yet to report the Wii power cord missing.  I would like to at least somewhat try to blindly believe that someone is working on my case.

The "investigation" is supposedly "ongoing."

It was only a matter of time before they caught you Smith-Fonville. You are a habitual criminal who needs to be locked up for an extended period of time. People work to hard for what they have for some punk like you to come and take it. Join the rest of your family behind bars.
