URBANA — Four local non-profit agencies that help children and the homeless will benefit from two overlapping walk/run events set for May 12 in Urbana.
One will be the fifth annual Champions4Children 5K walk, to benefit the Champaign County Children's Advocacy Center.
That walk will originate at the Champaign County Courthouse at 8 a.m. and join the runners and walkers participating in the 21st annual Twin Cities Twosome, a 5K walk and run at Crystal Lake Park, said Mike Williams, Children's Advocacy Center executive director.
The Twin Cities Twosome, sponsored by Human Kinetics, benefits Center for Women in Transition, the TIMES Center and the Crisis Nursery.
The cost to register for the Champions4Children walk is $20 with a T-shirt for registrations by April 30.
Registration is being done through the Twin Cities Twosome registration website at http://www.twincitiestwosome.com.
The Twin Cities Twosome can be done alone or in a relay of two people. Each person runs a 5K in a relay run, and relay walkers complete the 5K walk together.
Registration ranges from $8 to $22, depending on age of the participant and registration date and whether a T-shirt is included. All proceeds go to the charities.
