Man injured in I-57 crash

PESOTUM — A Sidell man was taken to Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, Monday morning after his car went off Interstate 57 about 2 miles north of the Pesotum exit, Illinois State Police said.

Loren G. Burroughs, 62, was driving north on I-57 about 4:56 a.m. Monday when his car left the road, a state police news release stated.

Burroughs told police he heard a pop and his car pulled hard to the right. The vehicle began overturning when it hit a ditch and came to rest on its driver's side in a field east of the interstate, the release said.

He was listed in fair condition at the hospital.
