SADORUS — Rescue workers helped two people involved in a vehicle accident in southwestern Champaign County Wednesday afternoon.
Champaign County sheriff's Lt. Greg Mills said a white van was headed south on County Road 300 E about 2:15 p.m. when it apparently was unable to negotiate an S curve, went straight, then airborne into a rain-swollen creek.
"It ended up partially submerged in about 3 to 4 feet of water," Mills said.
The adult man and woman in the van were able to get out; both have been taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Mills said the woman walked to a house about a quarter-mile away to summon help while the man stayed near the vehicle.
"When the deputies got here, he was up on a bank being treated. He was conscious when the deputies arrived," Mills said.
Mills said the woman was quite upset and not immediately able to provide a lot of information.
