Champaign police investigating bank robbery

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are looking for a man who robbed the First Financial Bank, 1611 S. Prospect Ave., C, shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn said preliminary information is that a black man, about 28 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 130 pounds, entered the bank at 9:06 a.m. and gave an employee a note demanding cash. A gun was implied but not seen, she said.

Twelve employees were in the bank but no one was physically harmed.

The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was described as having a dirty face and scruffy goatee. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans and a black leather glove on his left hand.
