Danville police investigate fatal shooting

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old local man early this morning.

Public Safety Director Larry Thomason said police were called to the area of Robinson and Williams Street, which is behind the Mach 1 gas station at 510 N. Gilbert St., around 4:50 a.m. to a call of shots being fired.
When they arrived, a man was lying in the southwest corner of the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Thomason didn’t identify the man, saying only that he was from Danville.
Police continue to the probe the shooting, Thomason said. He urged anyone with any information to call the Vermilion County Crimestoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
